I slept in a bit this morning, but I was able to get in a good run before going to work. The weather was warmer today, but I can't ditch my wind breaker just yet.

More snow. Why is it that the days when I want to go trail running have the nastiest weather? Oh well! I ran up the Mueller Park Trail anyway. I wasn't going to let the snow get the best of me and pushed it all the way to Elephant Rock. My time up was faster than two weeks ago at 53:34. My down time was faster as well at 33:45. The snow was wild today, but the run was beautiful.

I ran 8 miles with 1.5 miles in the middle at 6:40 pace. I was planning on running fast for 3 miles, but I have a sinus headache today and couldn't hold that pace. I hope that my sinuses are cleared up by Saturday because I am running in a 10K.

Easy 5 miles today. My sinuses were feeling better today, but I still have a runny nose. Hopefully that won't affect my race much tomorrow.

When I woke up this morning I felt icky. My cold had not improved and I had a soar throat. On top of that, my GPS was dead. I had to do this race old school with the stop watch.

It was cold this morning, I'm not sure what the temperature was, but it was colder than the 5k two weeks ago. The race got started and I felt okay, but went out at a good pace. After about the first half mile the race had an added challenge, 50 meters of ice. Luckily I didn't slip. My first mile was 6:55. That was right about where I wanted it to be. Mile 2 was 6:30, a bit faster but it had some downhill. Miles 3 & 4 I leveled off and I was just over 7 minutes. At mile 4.5 there was a large uphill. When we reached the top of the hill I realized we weren't to the top yet. The hill kept going. When we went over the next ridge we were still climbing. Finally we crested over the top and I was able to stride out for the last half mile. I'm not sure what my splits were for miles 5 & 6 but they weren't anything great. My goal time was 44:12, but I came in at 45:49. My overall slip time was 7:23. I am pleased with the my results especially considering I wasn't feeling 100% today.
