Yesterday, for a Valentine's/Early Birthday gift my sweet wife gave me a pair of snowshoes. So this morning I tried them out. I drove up to Wild Rose Canyon. The snowshoes worked great, but I had forgotten how steep the trail is. It climbs 1000 ft in the first 1.5 miles. After that it levels off and I was able to run comfortably. I turned around at a trail intersection that is two miles up the trail. The uphill took me 35 minutes. Running downhill on the snowshoes felt great. the snow was choppy and uneven, but I was able to keep a good rhythm going. The downhill took me 21 minutes. My right achilles is still sore from the 50k. Hopefully it will heal soon, because I am ready to run.

Wow, what a great present. Your wife is awesome. Glad you are enjoying the snow shoes. Scott has a pair and I can get my hands on some at the drop of a hat. Maybe that is what we should do this coming saturday. Thoughts?

I definitely would like to do a snowshoe run with you guys this weekend. At this point I can't make a solid commitment though. My wife is due on Thursday, so I might be unavailable on Saturday. I want to get as much use out of these snowshoes as I can before all the snow melts.

I like your wife. Jun- I also have some you can use if you need them. If I don't do Lone Peak on Friday then I would love to do a snowshoe early in the AM. Otherwise, I would be up for a trail run.
