Mueller Park Trail. I know what you are thinking. 'Are you crazy? Don't you know that there is a mountain lion up there?' Yes I am crazy, but not becuase of the mountain lion. More due to the fact that I am running this trail less than one week after running a 50 miler. I was supposed to meet some friends here, but neither of them showed up. While waiting for them two bikers and another runner headed up the trail. So I figured I was safe to head up to Elephant Rock by myself with those guys in front of me.

When I started out, it felt like I was moving really slow. When I reached mile 1 I realized that I wasn't going any slower than I normally do on this trail. My calves could definitely feel the uphill and haven't fully recovered yet, but the rest of me felt great. The downhill felt great as usual. There were several fallen leaves on the trail making it nice and soft. I had no pain on the downhill. I am looking forward to my next ultra.

No sign of the mountain lion.

They had a story on KSL news last night about a guy that shot a cougar that was stalking him last weekend. It always freaks me out to go out alone. Nice to see you getting some miles after the 50.

You have recovered nicely. You also came out of that race feeling pretty good. Glad everything is back to normal. I wouldn't worry about mountain lions. They just want to wrestle a little and then run away to catch rabbits. Say hi to them, give them a scratch behind the ear, and you'll be fine.
