I didn't sleep in this morning and actually got up and got a run in. I ran the Bonneville Shoreline Trail to the Radio Towers. I then went up to the second set of towers. I considered running up to the third set, but didn't have the motivation to do so this morning. The weather was cool this morning but not cold.

Yesterday was a terrible day at work. There are 457 people employed at my work. Yesterday, 246 of them were giving termination notices. I was one of the luckly ones that will still be employed. This was the first layoff we have had since the economic down turn. The company thought that they could keep everyone employed and make it through but ended up with a big loss. Hopefully we will make it through now and this won't happen again. I am glad I still have a job but I feel awful for all the people that I have worked with who are leaving.

Well good job getting in the run. Hope it helped with the loss of everyone one at work. We are going to have a RIF here next week or 2 also. And will lose like 80 of 220. Not good. I feel lucky that I am inthe 70s on the list so will be around for a while longer. But do feel for those that will get the axe.:(

Did you run to the top of Big beacon? That is a fun little run/hike.

From Twinkies on Wed, Sep 23, 2009 at 18:03:59 from 63.241.173.64

Burt - That is the correct company, but I wouldn't recommend applying there right now.

Scott - Do you mean physically climb up the beacon? I only run to the base of it. There are three sets of antennas along the hillside south of City Creek. They are each about a half mile apart. I have ran to all of them before. The trail also continues up about four miles to a rock formation called 'Three Dudes'. If you look it up on a GPS quad map it really says 'Dude' on the map. It is a challenging run to go up that far. Lots of rocks and steep hills. I have only ran up there a few times.

Matt, sorry about your company, but congrats on making the cut.

Any more thoughts on making the Friday start to Pony Express? Can you get the day off? I'd really like to start with everyone else.

From Twinkies on Thu, Sep 24, 2009 at 13:24:32 from 63.241.173.64

Jun - I did get Friday the 16th off. So I guess I'm now committed to run 50. I still need to email crockett and let him know.

Nice run. Sorry to hear about the layoffs. Dang - I wish I was running the Pony Express. Next year it will be mine.
