Okay, after a week of being lazy, I got out and went for a run.

It was snowing lightly when I left the house. I ran up to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail in North Salt Lake, then went up to the radio towers. The last hill up to the towers was tough in the snow, but this hill can be a challenge when it's dry. I felt pretty good during the run back. It snowed during most of the run. I love running in the snow.

No miles today. I did shovel out the driveway, does that count for anything?

Bonneville Shoreline Trail. I ran the same route as Monday. Except today there was eight more inches of snow. When I got to the trailhead I was glad to see two sets of tracks in the snow. Somebody must have used the trail yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately they only went about a half a mile. After that I was on my own, breaking trail in the fresh snow. I really enjoyed it. The interesting thing about today's run was that it was only one minute slower than Monday's run. But with all the snow, I think I got twice the workout.

I enjoy running in the winter, but at 5:30 this morning it was bitter cold. I didn't let that stop me from getting out and running. I ran from my house up Indian Springs Road. There was a slight wind which was frigid. At the end of the road is North Canyon Trail. I went up the trail about a mile and a half. It was very quiet this morning, only the sound of the snow crunching under my feet. When I got home, there were frost sickles on my eyelashes.

Fresh snow. I started out my run today with an 8.5 mile warmup. It snowed about an inch or two last night. I went up the Mueller Park Trail to Elephant Rock. The trail was great for the first 2.5 miles. The last mile or so up to the rock had not been traveled recently and the snow was 6 to 8 inches deep. I ran the whole way up, although some of the running was slow. At the top I at some frozen shot bloks. The taste pretty good frozen. The downhill was fun. I really enjoy trail running in the Winter. After running the trail, I did a 3 mile cool down back to my house. The last few miles were tough. Running on the road is so boring after running a mountain trail.

After not running all week, I finally got a run in today. I drove down to Draper to meet up with Craig and Scott to run the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. We started at 6 a.m. with our headlamps leading the way. Scott didn't have a headlamp, so he ran in between us. The first part of the trail had been well traveled and heated by the Sun, so it was a bit icy. About two miles into the run I tweaked my knee a bit and had to slow down. By mile three my knee had recovered and I was going strong again. We ran up the dirt road to Corner Canyon. Towards the top, there were very few tracks. The snow had a thin crust on it that broke through with each step making it difficult to run. From there we ran down Ghost Falls trail. This trail was great and I really enjoyed running it in the snow. It met back up with the Bonneville Shoreline trail and we headed back the way we had come. At one point Craig was a bit ahead of Scott and I and he took a turn that we didn't notice. The next then we knew we were running on a lower road and he was along side us up on the hill. I picked a spot that I thought would be good to run up to meet back up with him, but it was steep and not the best choice. We caught up with him again and stayed on the right trails for the rest of the run. The run felt good today and I really liked running on news trails that I hadn't been on before.
